recently rediscovered that this is the perfect movie, and i say that without a hint of irony. i watched it twice last week and then read the screenplay front to back. my mom told me she caught it on hbo (thatās something parents still do, catch things on hbo) and i almost cried. strikes the perfect balance of genuine heart and complete nonsense. the extended sequence at mamie-claireās house is (again, genuinely) a feat in cinema. āfive feet to the left and unhappyā

Hereās the thing. This movie is perfect. itās obsession in a time capsule. Iām on a lil cocaine talking to my partner about how much we both love it and i was like ādude I feel like bob fosse is rolling in his grave about the ariana grande videoā and he said, āI actually feel like he is very at peace in his graveā and honestly after seeing his directorial collection, heās right. That man had restless leg syndrome to its fatal conclusion. Very cool and very sweet though. Everything old is new again!

this movie transports me to a different world. but it also has such real feelings of womenhood. there's like a 30 minute ballet seen in the middle and it's crazy. leaves you feeling very empty but it's so damn good.

im obsessed with doing this lately; iāve never been good with watching shows that have finished/have a lot of seasons to get through because i have a short attention span. i tell everyone that i love the sopranos, but iāve been on episode like, 12? of the first season for like, 9 months. 30 rock, the bear, veepā¦ all shows that i started and really truly liked, and told everyone i know how much i liked them, but i havenāt watched an episode in weeks. and frankly, no one questions me!
