For every book I read I try write a one sentence synopsis, some thoughts (sometimes they’re proper engagement with themes and shit and what it reminds me of or calls me to do, sometimes they’re just ‘fine but kinda boring, wouldn’t read again’) and some quotes. Loveeee pulling this out when friends ask for reading reccs or I wanna talk abt a book

I got so frustrated with losing beautiful sentences and ideas that Now when I’m reading I have a note book where I write down the sentences I like or make notes of the pages/ideas I actually go back to them it’s game changing

It is far too tedious for me to keep an actual diary of my thoughts. As a writer, every single entry ends up a thousand-or-so-word ramble detailing my feelings in lines of purple prose, using film references and sarcastic remarks. As a reader, though, I love to annotate my books. I write exactly what I’m thinking about silly scenes, romantic moments, and dramatic twists. It’s where I can freely express what I’m thinking and feeling, without any care for what it sounds like. The short remarks I print in the margins of novels, between the lines of dialogue, paired with doodles and scrawls, reflect my state of being as I read. When I look back on books I’d read previously, I am immediately transported to that era of my lifetime— what I was going through, how I was processing things, and how much of the world I’d experienced yet.

go to events even if u think they’ll be iffy - better to have some memories of living life than none, go to library, go sit on the nearest grass also u can’t expect good arts and culture if u don’t support the bad/amateur stuff as well 🦀

Eg in shower, on walks, during commute, making dinner, to go to sleep, getting dressed. be able to do all these comfortably in silence. then u can try phase them back in in a way where they actually contribute something and ur not just listening for the sake of it
