I continue to miss the feeling, novelty and overall fun of the old internet and this is just what I needed, and what the internet as a whole needed.

I have been on the internet from such a young age, probably younger than I should have been allowed. I‘ve always found myself immersed in online communities such as Discord and stan twitter (not my proudest moment), but it’s been a while since I’ve done that. An online community was crucial to me growing up, especially during lockdown, and I guess it will always seem to be something I crave. It’s only been a few days since I‘ve joined and theres already familiar characters I see frequently on this site. It feels very reminiscent of the old community I had on stan twitter without the toxicity, which I appreciate now that I have grown up.

Every now and again, I remember its existence, and every time that I rediscover it I am overjoyed! I always always always discover something new, people are overwhelmingly less negative on here compared to other social media apps, and everything feels so genuine. Ugh I just love it!

I’ll go on someone’s page and see that they’re from somewhere on the other side of the world, or at the very least another state, and I’m filled with this excitement and amazement that we are able to know and share the things we love from all across the world. That was the big selling point I feel, of a connected world, when first imagining what the internet could provide for us.

I’m not super anti-streaming but I do think everyone should actually own (psychically or digitally) their music library again, instead of basically just renting it all. To think that any streaming platform is capable of removing any album or song you like at any moment’s notice is super annoying. I do see a world where both can co-exist where you use streaming to discover new music and use other means like bandcamp, cds, records, downloads, etc to support and consume a musician’s work.
