not even underlining passages or w/e. Last week I took a 1969 pulpy Sartre paperback to a public lecture and I used that shit like a notebook. It’s free paper. Also very beautiful to lend out books to friends and see what they write in them. kill the bookshagger in your head

I personally hate annotating or marking my books at all, even in high school when I was forced to highlight books in english class it felt sacrilegious. It was printed with the exact correct number of words, I do not need to add to it. But, i do love when i get a copy of something and someone has underlined their favorite passages or scribbled some notes in the margins. Feels like taking a peek into someone’s diary.

Love Underlining, leaving note, etc. But what I love even more is reading a book where somebody has already left their traces

write in them, underline, draw, cross out, anything! make them yours, and let other people learn about you if they borrow them. you can also look back through books that you've read, and see what passages seemed important at the time. it has really made reading even more enjoyable for me. plus buy second hand books if you can!!
