not a comprehensive list at all but these are the things i find myself craving again and again Everyday Noodles - spicy dan dan noodles with black milk tea Pigeon Bagels - classic lox on garlic+salt bagel with a yerba mate cola Pamela's - pancakes with lyonnaise potatoes. OR if it's lunch time, the Pittsburgh salad (it's an iceberg lettuce salad with french fries on top. trust) with a very classic diner style coffee Alta Via - the pizza is fab but what you REALLY want is the chopped salad, which has kale romaine salami chickpeas pine nuts provolone and pepperoncinis. with a negroni sbagliato obviously Apteka - it's eastern european vegan food the menu is intimidating and everything's seasonal/local so just go up to the counter and ask what to order and say yes to everything.

murray's, joe's, and O Cafe. oh, and is sticky's finger joint still open? nothing smart about eating there, but a good amount of tasty chicken for what you spend. and you can always walk down to dumplings. no wrong choices with dumplings.

chopping up a ton of stuff while drinking red wine and listening to your upsetting podcast of choice and making a big pasta that you live on for days after. also letting yourself take the time to chill out and cook something when everything else feels super overwhelming ... just a small clemency

something cool about Pittsburgh is that pierogis are a staple food. my deli keeps them in the reach in at eye level and so I always end up buying a pack of them frozen. today i was tired and didn't want to cook but also the idea of Uber Eats-ing something was really depressing so i softened some scallions and green garlic in my wok and then let the pierogis brown on either side for like 6 minutes in the hot oil. then i made a dipping sauce with a scoop of creme fraiche and kewpie and a ton of chopped up herbs. when the rogis were done i sauteed several handfuls of spinach in the wok. don't feel bad about calories or carbs because you are also eating spinach ok. make a lazy pierogi dinner today
