One of the greatest to ever do it, and also a complete mensch. ā€œDefending My Lifeā€ reminds you what insane range Albert Brooks has, all that heā€™s contributed to the culture, and also lets you feel like youā€™re getting to be a fly on the wall of his friendship with Rob Reiner. (Extra recc: pair with his podcast episodes on WTF with Marc Maron, and Conan Oā€™Brien Needs a Friend)

In addition to the books and tv shows, I would also highly recommend the recent doc that came out about him, Roadrunner. It was the first post Covid movie I saw in a theater and the whole audience laughed AND cried- it was well done and made me appreciate him even more.

I love his one about 1970s Canadian teens called Come On Children (1971) but Warrendale (1967) is also great. I have not seen the one about marriage. My Life As A Turkey (2011) was a PBS/BBC documentary that is so beautiful. You think it's just your average nature doc but the music is great and it tells a story that really has little to do with nature and more about the human condition.

Didnā€™t plan to give the series another shot but Iā€™d heard this season wasnā€™t following the previous formulaā€¦itā€™s giving full Twin Peaks vibes. The owls are not what they seem and Iā€™m 100% here for it.

Iā€™ve been doing this since the end of Dec..I was reading an interview about mental health habits and the person shared they do this at the top of each day: Make a list of these 5 things- full sentences or singular words, whatever comes to mind. 1) 5 things youā€™re grateful for today 2) things you need/want to do today 3) any fears or resentments 4) things to avoid feeding into today 5) things to strive for/go after today I love a list, and jotting it down in my daily planner is a nice way of not being too precious about it. šŸŒž
