do more things on your own

Go to the gig. Dance by yourself. Maybe you’ll make a friend, but not having someone there with you shouldn’t stop you from enjoying good music and connecting with an artist you love. Stand in the front. No one behind you matters. The night is yours, if you take it. Go to the movies alone. Go to cafes alone. Take yourself out on dates. Go to the bookshop and buy something pretentious and wanky. Sit in a crowded bar reading about Sylvia Plath’s fig tree or Plato’s Cave. Don’t believe that you need to be holding someone’s hand to enjoy the sunset. The sunset is just as golden when you drink it in alone.

going places alone is normal and good and fine

Idk, I’ve always loved being alone and doing things alone. I never understood friends who couldn’t even go to the bathroom alone. I hated waiting for people so I’d usually roll up to parties and events alone. I liked being on my own timeline. I’m a mom now and would kill to go to a movie alone. Someone who would judge that is weird and is projecting their own anxiety and insecurity. You do you.

enjoy your own company

i started going to the cinema by myself last year and its the best thing ever. I dont know why it scared me so much to do things alone, however doing things solo actually made my social anxiety better. I love just hanging out by myself now; going to the cinema; a nature walk; solo study date at a cafe. Doing things alone will heal something in you
