I feel like some of the anxiety of going places by yourself comes from not having another person to help fill the space/time. Bring a journal! A book! A crossword puzzle! A game boy! If you are actively engaged with something you’re going to have less brain space to worry about feeling anxious and, as someone who worked in food service for many years, I promise it’s not weird!!

and make up some lies tbh. like the worst case scenario in my head is someone asking me "hey why are you alone here?" to which I can plausibly say "my friend's on the way/in traffic/etc" or, if it's already started, "my friend was going to come but had to cancel and I was already here." I've gone to a lot of shows alone and unsurprisingly none of that has ever happened but having something in the chamber really puts my mind at ease! (also seconding someone else's tip to get a drink immediately because I never know what to do with my hands)
