It's very easy to accidentally spend $18 on a nondescript, bowl-format meal in Manhattan. That's why, when I work anywhere near Chinatown, I like to take 5 bucks out of the ATM and go get a bunch of dumplings. Give it a try and support lunch spots that don't have a Nasdaq ticker.

Money evaporates in my checking account. Sure, I could put it in a savings account and make 0.4% interest, but I'll end up transferring it back into my checking account anyway.
Put a quarter of that paycheck into an index fund like the Fidelity 500 Index Fund making an average of 14.68% interest on those hard earned dollars and you won't be tempted to transfer it out. You can finally save up for that SSENSE espresso machine you've always wanted.

I always liked hiking but never truly 'got' it. Then I went to the Southwest and zen'd out on some desert-y trails (Seven Falls in Tucson for those keeping track at home). Here, during January, you can experience every season in the span of an hour while observing roadrunners in their natural habitat.
