It feels very vulnerable because I’m very new to—and therefore not very good at—knitting, but it’s such a soothing, meditative craft that I feel like you should be able to do at a cafe without attracting too many stares.

I started knitting in 2012 when a friend started a girls’ craft group that met every Wednesday, but I waited until this year to try and improve. I like challenging myself to figure out new patterns and new things to knit. I’ve advanced from scarves to beanies… Maybe I’ll do a sweater next. My favorite places to get yarn are Purl in SoHo, Annie & Company Needlepoint & Knitting on the Upper East Side, and CeCe's Wool Yarns and More if I’m in Albany. If I can do it, anyone can.

I find it easier than knitting for some reason, but if knitting is your bag, then go with that. I just love turning my brain off and crocheting while I watch tv or listen to a podcast!!!! If you have the problem that I do where you need to have something to do w your hands while you sit still (lol) (needing to be productive while relaxing) (aka ADHD) this is great. And bonus you get a new sweater or hat or blanket when you’re done!

It’s Friday night and I’m off work late with no plans but I felt like being out in the world, even if for a moment. Turns out, a low stakes glass of orange wine tastes great when you’re waiting for a $10 burrito platter from down the street.

I’ve spent so much time scrolling on this app that I’m able to discern some of your writing voices. There are a couple of you who have such a developed voice that I can guess you wrote a post before seeing the attached username. You’re all so observant, introspective, delusional, earnest, anxious, well-rounded, hilarious and loving. Kind of breaks my heart that I’ll likely never meet some of my favorites because we all live everywhere, but I guess that’s why we thank God for the Internet!
