I read/heard somewhere that waking up at a consistent time was more important than going to bed at a certain time and decided not to investigate further and just implement it. Iā€™m a night owl so I need flexibility in the evening. 7:30 seemed a good compromise because bedtime can be as late as midnight and Iā€™ll still get eight-ish hours of sleep. And I have time in the morning to slowly get moving and prepare for work. The consistency seems to be paying off. Iā€™m waking up naturally before my alarm and feel pretty alert most days. Also feels like I get a little more weekend.

Iā€™ve historically struggled with getting anywhere on time because itā€™s hard to get up in the morning, but Iā€™ve recently made the effort to get to work around 30 min before everyone ā€” and while this may not be great for work/life balance ā€” it does set up the day nicely. Feels good to have a little calm before the storm so to speak. Plus itā€™s a way for me to justify getting coffee on the way in most days

Iā€™ve struggled with sleep maintenance my whole adult life and have been working PST jobs from the East Coast for years now, so both naturally hopeless and lacking your standard external motivators to be conscious in the ā€œsingle digits.ā€ I actively want to change this so that I have time to myself in the morning to read/exercise/just chill since I work later into the night, but has never been something I can consistently rewrite. In any case, I have the luxury to drink coffee and read for a bit in bed before starting my work day, but wow if I master mornings Iā€™d have hoursā€¦

my whole life, kind of the most consistent thing i have, is my natural body clock. i like that this time gives me a little space to do yoga before work, and on the weekends i can get out and see the world before it's fully charged and awake. i love mornings. i love breakfast, i love bird sounds, i love coffee, and i tend to feel at my most mentally sharp in the morning. morning person thru and thru

ANATOMY OF A REC: TITLEā€”This is the rec or recommendations. This is NOT a lead in. Type exactly what you're recommending here. What appears in the Title should finish this sentence, "I recommend _____." BODYā€”This supports the rec and anything goes. Supporting statements, supporting essays, additional recs, you can get silly, you can pontificate. You can do anything you want. Except putting the main rec down here. Where does it go? That's right. In the Title šŸ‘† IMAGEā€”No rules. Add one to preference. It can be relevant or a non sequitur. LINKā€”I highly recommend links but it's not as important as the Title or Body. If you are recommending something that has an online presence (music, movies, websites, products, etc.), Piffies want to click on it immediately. Don't make us google. Be kind a leave a link. EMOJIā€”No rules. Express yourself. ANTI-RECS: They exist and they are valid recs. "Anti-Rec: _____" clearly communicates this is something best avoided. But a better way format this type of Rec is to use a modifier or verb that flows with "I recommend _____." Ex. I recommend... Not Eating Tacks, Avoiding Area X, Leaving Off the Anchovies, etc.ā€”(Formatting Anti-Recs this way first recommended by tyler the Creator) ANATOMY OF AN ASK: TITLEā€”This is the question or topic of the Ask.
