I don't drive so I walk a lot and treat shoe purchases as if I am buying vehicles. I have acknowledged this week that I now have every shoe I will need. I have tried and tested many many many kinds and brands and these are my findings Trainers: - For day to day, city walking etc = Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 (I have walked 15,000 steps in these and felt nothing) - For longer distances, when you need a chunky sole, rain etc = Adidas Astir Sandals: - Clarks (I just got the Alda Cross sandals and wowww) Boots: - Vagabond (beautifully made, comfy, great styles) - Fly London (I wore these for ten hour bartending shifts and they were super comfy) - Skechers (mostly hideous but they have squishy sole walking boots which are peak comfort) Heels: - I have done a lot of research here and the way to find walkable heels is to look for the positioning of the heel. If the heel is directly under the heel of the foot that's good, if it's right at the back that's bad. It's all about the weight distribution. - My favourite nice heels are from Aquazzura, my second favourite are from H&M. Loafers: - Gucci win for both heeled and flat loafers - Marks and Spencers in second place for chunky loafers Slip ons/clogs: - Birkis by Birkenstock - bonus round: I've loved every pair of sliders I've ever met

I need some type of Batman signal for these clothing rec type asks. Anyways here you are with the only list of sneakers that matter (With links!): The New Balance 993 is a great shoe per previous rec, but a caveat that isn’t usually discussed is that it’s more comfortable for people with flatter feet. If you’re someone with a high arch, you’ll be miserable. The Hoka Cliftons are also a great option but these are for the opposite crowd — high arch supremacy!!! I personally cannot stand these since my feet are flatter, but most people do swear by these. The Transport model also has been deemed an excellent standing / walking shoe, looks are a little more technical but you might like that. The Converse Chuck 70’s is an amazing option too and it’ll be the cheapest. It has to be the 70’s one though, the standard one doesn’t used the ortholite sole that’s known for comfort. It’s a great option. They do run big though. Finally if you’re okay with looking like a (A) finance bro or (B) a nurse, the On Cloud 5 is renowned for its comfort. It’s good for walking to grab a $$$ salad and it’s good for taking peoples vitals all day. You can’t lose! I mean, you’ll look like a nerd but who cares when your feet don’t hurt!

I think caskeyc did a great job giving a vast list. I just want to sprinkle some additional things for ✨fun✨ and for ✨variety✨ The whole Paraboot catalogue is exceptional, albeit a little pricey. The price is well worth the product though. Peep through their loafers / shoes / boots and I’m sure you’ll fall in love. A brand I’m very excited about right now is Vinny’s and I think everyone should be keeping an eye on them. Relatively new-ish, but already pushing silhouettes that rival companies that have been around for a long time. I think what Sezane is doing with shoes is exciting. Some funky things there. Madewell has their own shoes but also carriers other brands; anything they stock they’ve considered versatile enough to wear with their offerings so they’re usually greatly curated. Sneakers are my weak spot. I’d say jump on the Hoka trend for comfort, but you have to accept that you’re going to likely match with a mom in her 50’s that has a MAGA2024 sticker on her minivan. Make peace with that and you’ll be fine. I’ll double recommend the Onitsuka Tiger rec too, just get those asap before they get blown up on Tik Tok, similar to the Sambas of yesterday.
