I have a friend who says lulls in conversation are a good chance to focus on her breathing. I wonder if it might make the conversation more awkward, but hereโ€™s the deal: there are no rules. Box breathing, belly breathing, 4-7-8โ€“ it all does the trick to regulate your body. Just take some deep breaths when you remember and take care of yourself today! Iโ€™m gonna try to do the same.

Like really breathing, deep ones, looking out the window and writing and listening to Alice Coltrane breaths, feeling a calm inside like everything is bad, yes, but one breath in, one breath out, maybe that mantra that goes "I love you / thank you / I'm sorry / I forgive you" somewhere in the background, I don't know.

My mom taught me this in order to slow down the nervous system. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4. If you're an anxious person you probably already know this. Also a good way to fall asleep really fast.

Have you tried box breathing? Inhale for a count of 4, hold for 4, exhale or 4, hold for 4, repeat
