I’ve had excellent results using sub irrigated planters - the linked vid gives an explanation of the concept and details of how to build.
I made 6 on my roof in BK using standard storage bins, working well for three growing seasons so far.
I just planted peas.
I was told they’re easy because I could just soak them overnight in some water and then plop them right into the dirt. Mine are going to grow 18 to 24 inches tall (🤞🤞🤞) so maybe I could put a stick in to help them stand tall.
