You might first need to do some research on what sort of meditating you might be interested in, but if you're looking for mindfulness with none of the spiritual woo woo, I've used this app for years on and off and really like it. There's an intro section to help get you started, new daily meditations, and lots of lecture series if you want to dig in a bit further. I mostly just listen to the daily meditations.

I’m a big fan of Sam Harris’ writing and podcast (Making Sense) but his meditation app, Waking Up, has been huge this year. His 28-day intro course and subsequent lessons, conversations and myriad practice sessions are well worth the subscription price tag (though Harris and his team allow those who can’t afford a subscription a free year till their luck changes). I couldn’t recommend a more important practice in a time filled with this much uncertainty and despair. At the very least, you’ll be taking 10 minutes out of your day to chill out. At its best, you’ll be taking the steps necessary to become a more calculated, attentive and mindful human.

No frills, no expensive subscriptions, just a basic app that occasionally crashes (bless) with a limited number of meditations guaranteed to lull you to sleep. Personally, endless choice is the last thing I want when I'm trying to reach the Land of Nod. Give me the same sweet Englishman telling me how to dial down each of my senses and I'll fall asleep every time. They also have guided meditations for daytime situations if that's your thing, but I'm a "meditate till my earbuds fall out in the dark" kind of gal.

I have been in the most consistent meditation habit since getting the Calm app because it really takes a lot of the thinking out of it. HOWEVER, there are tons of free resources on youtube and guided meditations released as podcasts. I feel like a big thing for me has been having a good mix of actual meditation and activities that put me in to a sort of similar headspace. A big one for me is going on walks and bird watching. I also find it easiest anytime I can sort of restrict myself in a way (ie im in the bath tub, wearing an eye mask, laying under a weighted blanket) to help keep myself in it.

An aggregate search for vintage clothes. Pulls from Ebay, Etsy, Real Real, Poshmark, Grailed, possibly others, but i see those the most frequently. All through one search, one website (there's an app as well). The filters work well and you can set alerts. It's amazing.

Some music journalists put together a list of 1001 albums to hear before you die, they've revised it a few times in the decades since it came out. Someone made a website that randomly generates a new album from that list every day (you can google the list to get a little taste). You can set up a group and the people in it all get generated the same album. I have a small group of friends who have become very dedicated to the practice. It's nice to have just a little pressure to finally sit down and listen to some of the all time classics. It's really great when it's a day that's an album you already love. And it's an interesting mental exercise to listen to an album that you really don't like (somehow this doesnt seem to have effected my spotify algo too much) Whenever we're together we end up discussing the most recent ones. It's been a nice addition to my life individually, and i was pleasantly surprised to see how often we end up talking about them when we're together.
