Sorry I keep thinking of more! Natalie Diaz’ Postcolonial Love Poem collection is gorgeous and contains one of the sexiest poems ever (first half pictured), called These Hands, If Not Gods
one of my all-time favorite poems. Diaz's whole oeuvre is moving and beautiful, but the volta in this particular one--which grew out of a long-term correspondence between Diaz and Ada Limon--makes me cry every time i read it aloud.
it’s a poem by natalie wee and it’s so damn good. here’s an
excerpt:
Stop
punishing yourself for
being untouched.
Sometimes a hand
is just a fist.
Sometimes a smile
is only a knife.
Sometimes a man is only
darkness taking shape.
i recently got a line of the poem tattooed on my back and i love it
It’s the type of poetry that I would typically dislike. But I read it once, then twice, then three times and it became one of my favorites. It made me angry that I liked it and it helped me grow as a poet and as someone who enjoys poetry.
I used to be envious of people who had “MySpace friends” or “tumblr friends”. Now I have PI.FYI friends. Thank you capyboppy for your lovely letter and this illustration of a capybara and a mouse with fruit on our heads, it made me weirdly emotional ❤️
