a lot of it was focused on pacific northwest native american history, and some work from contemporary native artists. there was also some great impressionist paintings and sculptures, and some interactive modern art. it’s pretty small so it won’t take too long. and there‘s a coffee shop across the street who’s name i don’t remember but i remember it was good.

Great spot! If you’re in Philly, gotta go. it’s pay what you want every Friday 5-9pm and the first Sunday of every month. They have all kinds of art— sculpture and paintings and masonry and so many eras of paintings. My favorite sections are the shaker furniture, american glasswork, the japanese tea house, and the living rooms from the hoi polli of manhattan in the 1900’s.

I get very tired at art museums, so once I get the lay of the land, my next visit is usually just one or two pieces, for maybe 10 minutes of absorption. Examples: the Frank Stella wall piece on the staircase at SF MOMA, the painting at the National Gallery East by some Dutch master from the perspective of inside a deep riverbed with two bridges and some city buildings above, the Iranian metalwork vessels with amazing mosaic bead work at the Sackler Gallery. In and out, tightly focused.

it’s the very least we can do. one of the few things america has gotten right is allowing us to protest the government and that’s exactly what we should be doing right now. there are multiple ways of protesting including going to marches, boycotting, addressing your representatives directly, and voting “uncommitted“ in the upcoming primaries to communicate to the democratic party that they are not acting in the people’s interests and that we will not support biden if he continues to fund this occupation and the deaths of tens of thousands of people. please do your part because you’d want people to do the same if it was you in this situation. i’ve linked a list of upcoming protests around the world. please use it. <3
