a kid I knew in college randomly started calling me this one day and it caught on to the point people who never met me were referring to me as Bidgii. Added bonus is it’s pretty much universally available as a username. Part of its advent as solidified in my lore is this post it I just discovered in the campus coffee shop that the friend had put up for me to notice (pictured below)

lifelong fondness of ephemera + two decades of sex work + deep enjoyment of reading my old journals= a name I’ve misspelled often enough that I have another email account for those ginny evenings I get it wrong.

not many people my age are named it which is why i used to hate it as a kid, but i've grown to love it. precisely because it's not "fitting" for my age practically everyone in my life calls me nicknames, which are fun and silly, but are also NOT my name, so it can get tiring sometimes lol. i honestly adore it now and when someone close to me (so professors/academic figures/etc. don't count) uses it i kind of percieve it as a sign of respect, even an act of love. it's intimate, really. i'd love it if people used it more :').

enough of firstnamelastname usernames! think of something better, more innovative, more enticing…mine is lowercaserockstar which is from a line in kim gordon’s memoir. not to be pretentious or anything 😋

I was going through the Ignatian approach to education today (adapted from the Spiritual Exercises for those keeping track at home) and this tenet is just so good. St. Ignatius says that a person, “ought to be more eager to put a good interpretation on a neighbor’s statement than to condemn it.Further, if one cannot interpret it favorably, one should ask how the other means it. If the meaning is wrong, one should correct the person with love; if this is not enough, one should search out every  appropriate means through which, by understanding the statement in a good way, it may be saved.” This is very Hanlon’s razor (never attribute to malice what you can attribute to stupidity/ignorance) and I just feel like having a curious posture like this is a major slay and makes us better people
