i think i'm a little late on this one because it came out near the end of last year, but got a few friends together to see this at a local indie theater. none of us had any idea what we were getting into, and i think that really worked, so i'm not going to share too much beyond saying that it was zany, funny, and shot beautifully.
unlike any movie ive ever seen. refreshing
sean, pinkerton, talia, jeremy, ayo, simon, jacob, earl,...👍 💪 the fun they had making it was contagious in the audience
indies are soooo back
was on my watch list after seeing the insane trailer like six months ago or something and it's on hulu now so i gave it a shot and i'm a big fan. it's like these small interlinked slightly satirical, but also poignant (although at times heavy handed) vignettes and there's this cool anachronistic feeling to the whole thing so the fact that shit just kind of happens works. it's also this really bizarre inditement, but also like appreciation of america, so that's happening. ayo edibiri is in it and so is jacob elordi (you'll never guess what happens to this man lol) and they're good so is simon rex and the cast... i don't know, i'm not exactly the most articulate movie reviewer but it does feel distinctly different than a lot of other movies that have come out as of recent, and i think that that's worth something. go watch
thinking of her, always and forever. particular favorites from her oeuvre are the 'silueta' series (selection depicted below), rupestrian sculptures, and body tracks (1982). taken from this world violently and far, far too soon.
in the vein of mj's Internet Archive rec and caardamom's follow-up on the Wayback Machine, i point you towards Ubuweb, which describes itself as "a pirate shadow library consisting of hundreds of thousands of freely downloadable avant-garde artifacts." i usually find myself perusing the short films or dance sections, but there's so much of the avant-garde to explore!
coordinating your laundry detergent, perfume, body wash, and linen/room spray in the same scent is so chic. people stop me on the street to ask what perfume i wear and my friends recognize it instantly when i walk in a room...doesn't need to be an obscure perfume either, it's more about the commitment to it than anything else
