I love Trina’s for a group of friends! Right outside of Inman sq, great cocktails, friendly bar tenders- cool but not stuffy! They have really good food too if you need some nourishment. Second State Park- it’s not a dive, but it looks like a Midwest dive and also has great food, a jukebox, and a Photo Booth next to the pinball on the right. I was there a few weeks ago and there was a line around 9- it does get busy! There’s this cocktail bar on the second floor of a building in central, havent been in years but it was very dark and cool - brick and mortar! I have no idea what it’s like now, but the bartenders used to play vinyl.

There are so many, but here are my faves: Cambridge: Grendel's Den - Right in Harvard Square. It's been there for 50+ years and the vibe is it's a bar that has been there for 50+ years. Something about that is very charming to me. A plus is that Pinocchio's Pizza is pretty much across the street, so you can get a late night slice or three after drinks. Plough & Stars - A favorite of many. A very cozy vibe and great live music. State Park - 70s basement vibes. Wood paneling, a bunch of cool/weird neon signs and vintage lamps, and great food. Also pool and I think shuffleboard Daedalus - Maybe more of a restaurant, but I love it. Also in Harvard Square Somerville: Highland Kitchen - Incredible food and a small bar. Mostly a sit-down place, but they have good drinks too. The Burren - One of the best places in the Boston area and maybe my favorite. The best live music around. There are usually some Irish/folk/instrumental bands playing in the front room and some larger acts in the back room. Saloon - A speakeasy, so to speak. Great drinks. Olde Magoun's Saloon - Great spot for food/drink if you're near Magoun Square Bronwyn - German bierhall with great food

in charlotte. it’s a perfect dive bar. dirty, bras tacked up on the walls, a hot pink bathroom, a non-digital jukebox that regularly has a billion pre-loaded credits for whoever to play whatever. and on top of all that, it’s a spite building in the middle of ugly modern apartments. i have considered moving to charlotte just so i could make this my regular bar. my hometown trash bar is my other favorite: slammer’s. it’s a tiny windowless box where you are equally likely to witness a drunken brawl or the entire bar singing along to “party in the USA” PLUS the gal’s bathroom is two toilets in one room with like, a tiny half wall so you can drunkenly hold hands while you pee with your friend. i have not done this but i‘d like to think that it’s an appeal for a certain kind of person.

I’m a project manager for a prepared food company, and the majority of the projects I work on are soup. We’re mostly private label, so we make the store brand soups in the deli section for most of the big grocery stores. One time at a big meeting our boss got a cameo from the “no soup for you!” Guy from Seinfeld to pump us up (?)
