2014 tumblr kid: Do Not reblog

what a time to be depressed in middle school. my uniform was flower crowns, combat boots, a skirt, tights and a graphic t-shirt. I thought my tumblr was so fucking sick—I copied some code on the backend so Born to die by Lana del Rey played and the mouse was a skull. So funny that at the time I was terminally unique, now this shared experience is something you can practically smell on early 20 year old gays.

look at how happy we all were here. everything was so bright and colorful. vibe was summer constantly. LA was in. brockhampton sounded amazing. something very different about this era. now we just have “indie sleaze”

nostalgic trends

this place right here is a nostalgic little thing. to me it feels like the simple ways internet had back then. it was all about discovering, connecting, and stuff was pretty raw (while now even what is real sometimes feels fake). we were under no pressure to sell our soul. no algo. no free webinars and sign up the newsletter for exclusive tips on how to grow your newsletter. i feel like the nostalgia is growing stronger because everyone misses being able to live without this insane pressure, fast-paced, crazy industrial/digital mode always on. (thus the reason for some sort of post-modern gothic revival)
