I've been aggressively marketed Fishwife brand tinned fish, but I don't really feel like paying the $30 for three tins and then waiting for shipping. So the other week, my girlfriend and I went to Whole Foods to buy various tins of other, less fancy tinned fish. Whole Foods is pretty fancy as it is, so it may seem counter-intuitive that we went there to spend money on cheaper tinned fish, but all of our other area grocery stores basically only sell canned tuna. Anyway, I got some tinned mussels there and I liked them a lot. I ate them with some toasted bread and it made me feel not unlike a house cat. I would recommend it to anyone who would also like to feel like a house cat. Shouldn't we all be more like house cats?

I love canned food and tinned fish. I used to have such an aversion to the stuff as a kid but now I'm all in again. Lots of faves, but I keep returning to these fried mussels. My favorite way as of late is on a thick slab of sourdough, with some miso shallot butter (sorry....) and a lil parm, hot sauce, and chives on top. heaven, believe me!

I spent most of my life thinking they were cat food at best. But I visited Clydes one day for bivalves and martinis and tried their new conservas menu. Now I am watching tinned fish reviews and eating all kinds of sardines.

"Tin to Table" by Anna Hezel made me rethink how I use tinned fish/seafood. i had a lot of reservations about tinned fish because i thought i was limited to just eating the fish straight out of the can... but taking the food and cooking it with other ingredients has got me really excited about eating seafood and it makes it really easy to incorporate into my homemade recipes! last week Vatsal and I made the most delicious pasta with some tinned clams and i have thought about it nearly every day since.

I watched this on Sunday because people said it's similar to Repo Man and They Live. They were on point- this movie also rips. I have listened to way more albums than I've watched movies in my lifetime, but now I'm convinced that I should have been watching more movies all along. Also, I might start talking like Kurt Russell in this movie sometimes. Sorry to my loved ones in advance.

I've been digging into the back catalog of the late, great Paten Locke the past week. This album is one of the standouts of a really stacked discography and found me right in time for the lovely spring weather we've been experiencing in Pittsburgh. The Smile Rays was a Jacksonville, FL group comprised of Paten Locke (fka DJ Therapy) on raps, Batsauce on beats, and Lady Daisey on sung vocals. This album is an absolute ray of sunshine. It's firmly hip-hop but with a sense of fun and play that feels very refreshing. Stylistically, it's somewhere along the lines of the first wave of DITC crew releases (like Showbiz & AG's Runaway Slave or Diamond D's Stunts, Blunts, and Hip-Hop) and 90s alternative sampledelica a la Deee-Lite, Towa Tei, Cibo Matto, & Cornelius. If you're looking for some top tier Summer music, this is it, look no further. It will be getting a lot of burn from me!
