your brain is a tiny cute little rat that you can train to do anything with enough persistence. mik what are u yapping about? i trained my brain to lock in when listening to lo-fi girl on yt. you can do this with anything, just pick one thing and stick to it. i also have a degree in psychology so hear me out. irl examples: • listening to brown noise while you sleep = makes you sleepy on airplanes • wearing a certain perfume when you feel 10/10 = boosts your confidence when you wear it • putting on a specific pair of sneakers when you work out = tells your brain it's time to get motivated today's example is how to train yourself to lock in here's how you do it: 1. pick a playlist >> I chose lo-fi girl bc it's always the same kind of music (more or less), has no lyrics (less distraction), updates regularly (slight variety) 2. only and i mean ONLY listen to it when you're trying to lock in >> the first couple weeks are crucial. you're training your brain to associate locking in with the playlist. >> bonus points if you can add other sensory elements, like lighting a certain candle (smell), or drinking a brand of tea (taste), etc. 3. the more you do it, the more you reinforce the association between your brain and music! >> it's been 4+ years and now i'm unstoppable!!! you can replace the above with anything, just pick something to associate with the behavior you want, do it enough, and voila!

From the very start, I'd like to mention that one should not be listening to music all the time, like a background to everything you do. Because the effects might be just the opposite to what one hopes to achieve. Because if you are always surrounded by the music, it has a zombifying effect. It takes over your mind and consciousness, or, rather, SUB-conscious, and you, without realizing it, simply become suggestive and passive, like a robot, driven by some program. In a way, it works just like any drug.
Listening to really fast jazz and instrumental rock jams somehow matches the speed my brains going and everything clicks - it gives me an extra kick of dopamine to help me get through whatever task I’m doing and and entertains/distracts me from getting distracted by everythjng else going on outside my brain and lets me just focus on the task at hand. I get less sidetracked bc I’m already entertained by the music and therefore am not looking for other external sources of dopamine while doing something I don’t like doing like homework. I love phish and yussef dayes for this. and adderall
