I’ve been into collecting watches for a while now, the different movements and complications are fascinating. I love the vintage dial styles, picking up the ones they that are interesting to me and fit my daily aesthetic. Some of the brands I enjoy are 70’s era Movado’s with the Zenith dial, of course Rolex, Seiko, and omega’s. When on tour, I get the chance to hit little shops in search of new pieces.

I’ve been wanting to start wearing watches again. When I started traveling / touring - way back before cell phones were ubiquitous, online shopping possible, and the über-rapid expansion of global “sameness” hadn’t snuck up on us yet - I looked forward to going to new cities or countries and…shopping! New (well, often vintage, actually…) unique shoes, or jackets, or bags, or watches; functional souvenirs to remember where I’ve been and what I’ve done. I miss that. Anyway, either nostalgia for a time long-gone (or maybe nostalgia for a watch-wearing dad long-gone) has made me want to start wearing watches again. Look at this killer Swatch watch I got!

Something happened over the last year or so and I started really appreciating watches. As a computer musician and dj I’ve felt a more emotional appreciation for precise time-telling, even though my wife tells me I’m “time-blind”. My daily driver right now is the Vaer D5 Tropic Automatic, I love the tuxedo dial and roulette red date window. Plus it was designed in California and assembled in Arizona just like me!
