Iâve had this youtube playlist for ages that I call my âinternet archiveâ and itâs full of videos that I find interesting but also feel are culturally significant. Theyâre mostly live performances with a mix of odd ball clips that I liked but also really special stuff I think wonât be there forever.
Here is a list of my favourites
1. Camcorder footage of two guys driving around london in the late 90s while listening to the radio
2. RuPaul before he was the Queen of Drag, hanging round a corner shop in New York
3. A documentary filmmaker documenting various African American accents and dialects across the states.
4. A short doc called âDirty Girlsâ about a group of teenager grunge girlies who are reacting to the news of Kurt Cobainâs death and discussing how they all stopped washing their hair to honour him hence the title.
5. Marsha P Johnson reading her poem âYou gotta have soulâ
Anyway, this is me recommending to you to begin saving videos that intrigue you because contrary to popular belief the internet isnât actually forever.

these are my fave genre and just generally an interest of mine! i love when they go beyond just reporting what happened and into why/what it says about us and culture. There are lots of creators in this space but here are a few I keep thinking about:
biz barclayâs vid on snapewives: religion, passion, fandom, the early internet.
folding ideas on the metaverse, âthe future is a dead mallâ: why the idea of the metaverse is so appealing and why all corporate attempts are falling apart
mina leâs recent video about booktok: the aesthetic politics of reading and how thatâs at play now
Iâll update if I think of any more and would love to hear if anyone else has recs in this arena

I really hate the way stuff we make gets lost in the internet void. I think people should constantly repost the stuff you do until youâre basically sick and bored of it.
I got my work featured on a billboard in 2022. I will share that shit until I do something that tops it. Happy anniversary to the coolest thing that I have ever done.
