I’m not a runner or athletic but I had surgery late last year and needed to exercise for recovery, couch to 5k app is free and now I can run 5k without stopping in about 30min. Also the app helps you improve your time after you’ve done your first 5k and is just generally gentle and not super masochistic or annoying. If you’d like to run but don’t know where to start this is THE app 4 u I pwomise xo

recommending this to myself too bc I used to be an avid runner like 10 years ago and want to get back into it. I also love walking and do it fairly often! There is a free app for this plan which switches walking and running to build up endurance and keeps you from going overkill and being crazy sore (imo). I did almost the whole thing back in 2019 and managed to avoid shin splints with proper stretching and warm-ups. It’s annoying to start and stop frequently at first but it does the job

okokok i’m not that big fan of huge conglomerates like nike. but bc i’m getting into running again, i’m getting all types of recommendations and this is a fUcking good one! They have guided runs where coaches come in, talk to you, tell you what they want you to focus on, when to push harder, and celebrate and different points during the runs. As someone who’s mental state goes from “wow it feels so nice outside!” to “i hate this i hate this i hate this” to “i’m so slow, fUck this is embarrassing” to “oh my god i’m so happy i did this i feel so good!” It does WONDERS to have someone checking me on my mental state. Like truly it’s the thing that keeps me going. Anyway, they have training guides for races, but they also have beginner intros and those are amazing ( including slow 5 minute runs) with the whole purpose of getting you to enjoy runnin! and of course it’s all free with no trial period or premium stuff, everything on the app is accessible to everyone 🫡 which, thank fuck, honestly.

I’m on the wrong side of 33 and i can tell you with utmost certainty that your 20s is the most chaotic time of your life and it’s amazing that anyone actually gets anything done during them. If you’re a type a planning type personality however I would recommend: - if you’re the sort of person who cares about diet and fitness, establish those routines in your 20s - live where you wanna live. Don’t live somewhere you hate because you think you’ll have more fun later cos you won’t - get a job that makes reliable money that you can tolerate and go back to if your dreams fall through. It doesn’t have to be a dream job it just has to pay the rent and not make you sad - don't smoke cigarettes - use sunscreen - be as cringe as you want. People expect it from you anyway. They won’t have as much patience in your 30s.

Walking into a formal celebration and taking in everyone looking and smelling good. The smell always stays with me the most—cologne, soap, hair product, cigarettes, leather, shoe polish. Everyone so clean and proud and a little bit shy. So special.
