not being uncool either, just letting go of the concept of 'coolness' entirely. it's not real! there's no objective metric of it! it's way too easy to do things just cuz u think they'll make u seem cool, instead of doing things u actually like.

not trying to be cool

our cultural obsession with being perceived as cool is a disease. its peak capitalistic/consumerist propaganda. fuck being cool. like what you like and who cares if it's cool or not. it's tiresome and we need to leave it in 2024. literally nothing gives me the ick more than people who betray themselves in an attempt to be perceived as cool by the masses. be yourself — even if it means you're 'uncool'.

Being uncool

it is so freeing to not have your ear to the ground of what is on trend or hip for the time being, and tbh I have saved myself a lot of time, money, and perhaps sanity for just not leaning into being too plugged in, some tangible examples: - no flimsy impulse purchases, mainly tangible well made things (clothing, electronics, furniture) - reading very little, but just enough news to know what’s going on, avoid entertainment news/snark/discourse machines - do things cause I feel like it (dance, laugh loudly, smile) and enjoy it all, never act like I’m above it all

being cool, real cool.

an amazing thing about the dichotomy of attention whores is ur so in the moment abt being odd that u r making real memories for ur future self but also the self that says i enjoy the eyes and then u can look back at ur memories and know u were doing for the simulacra of screens but the simple enjoyment of those passing by- an to be a clown. to live the life of the jest u gotta commit to the bit, the bit by bit of our flesh and bones which means to mean i am saying, really being cool being a dynamic verb not a stative verb is the vibe.
