Shoes: I recommended the Paraboot Michaels this week and those do live on my feet pretty often. In terms of reliability, it’s that pair of shoes. In terms of ‘cool’ I did lowball someone for vintage engineer boots a month ago and I’m so ecstatic about them. Pants: I have a pair of black jeans that have been worn in to perfection. They’re on their last few wears so I’m rationing them out. Shirts: T-shirt wise I own a dozen of the same vintage Gildan shirt and they’re my most worn item of clothing. For formal shirts, GAP put out a perfect Oxford a few years ago so I bought five identical shirts. One is crisp but the other four are nicely worn. Outerwear: I bought my dream coat last year so that’s the fav. I will die in that coat. (It’s in the picture below) Accesories: I have this silk Drakes scarf that is so beautiful. I get compliments on it all the time and although not the warmest, it’s by far the most intricate accessory I own.

god i could really write a whole essay on this for context, i’m studying pattern cutting and have been really into/very specific about my clothes forever but have known fashion since maybe 15-16 because of how i fit into the clothes-scape my tastes cannot be separated from trends whether i like it or not. how i dress is rather on trend lately tbh over the years my pants have gotten bigger as i grow more accustomed to the comfort of having less fabric on your body + the dynamism of a wide leg in the somewhat constrained silhouettes of menswear. also inextricable from wider pants just becoming more a part of the collective consciousness and thus my consciousness my tops have gotten smaller & tighter as i've grown more confident and comfortable with my body. still love a baggy vintage tee when it’s warm though maybe best way is to talk my fav clothes and why they’re my fav clothes: - plasticana clogs. super california shoe but also like a half clog half loafer. i love heeled shoes i think they’re more elegant and just more smooth so i’ve worn loafers mostly for the last 6 years. these are like if those felt like sneakers to me. so easy so comfy - fadepants cords. super baggy, so fucking comfortable. really dynamic shape with a lot of personality. they just feel right - slim gildan tees. they remind me of the artist guy in Blow-Up and the way that guy looks reminds me of the energy we all used to have in the wood/metalshops at parsons, functional dress - hanes beaters. so new york summer. also i love how they fit me they flatter my build - oakley sunglasses. indestructible. ridiculous shape in a way i can own. michael jordan wore them in the 90’s and i love basketball & his game - bandanas. remind me of home. remind me of my gay ass new york friends. a lot of them were from home too but i met them all in new york. funny how life works. they suit my hair well when i don’t feel like wearing a hat or i haven’t got time for a shower, and it’s very windy in stratford a hat might blow off - 90’s vintage snapbacks. they fit over my hair that’s really the only reason - our legacy borrowed bd shirt. it reminds me of the shirts my friend katie wears and those shirts are aggressively northern california. so is this one. and it’s just cute - supreme leather collar work jacket. has all of the pockets, and the roundness/diesel type fit that a new yorker’s jacket would have. and that makes me happy. form + function i think right now my style is in a pretty solid place of amalgamating the things that make me me, between upbringing, interests, places i’ve lived + the things i’ve taken from them, queerness, and my growing understanding of how all the things i wear are made. feeling really good about it all. want to figure out how to wear 90’s retro basketball sneakers though because they’re something i’ve loved forever and im a huge basketball fan but they’ve just never felt right when i tried them, except foamposites. personal style is a neverending pursuit if you’re doing it right

This is not going to be about where you should buy/how you should buy clothes, or what you should buy. There’s just something special about having some items that have lasted you forever, and that you still have managed to wear regularly through personal style evolutions, wear and tear, and couldn’t dream of ever getting rid of. It’s part of your uniform and yours alone even if there are millions just like it elsewhere in stores, in closets or thrift/resale stores. They don’t even need to be expensive or luxury items. Personal favs for me include a plain light blue oxford button down from J Crew 10+ years ago, a Barbour motorcycle jacket of a similar age I bought after one of my first post college jobs and moving to a new city, and then also an Ohio State football (alma mater!) t shirt I got as a kid before even attending the school, which still somehow fits me believe it or not! Would love to give items like these to my future kids!

- take stock of your wardrobe. what do you have? why do you wear the things you like/wear? what do you wish you had? keep all these in mind, write them down if you must - take measurements of your favourite clothes and keep them on hand - if you know what you want, go find it. stores in your city or vintage stores/thrift stores are always good places to go. keep the measurements on hand and shop with a tape measure to know what will and won't roughly fit before wasting time trying it on - if you don't know what you want, go outside and look at how people wear things, or go on instagram or something. comes together with time - don't rush it too hard unless you need stuff like now as far as personal recs go without knowing anything about how you dress, these are some of the things i like lately bottoms - supreme does great shorts, dickies too. fadepants is the only pants brand i can endorse, but acne studios is probably good if you're rich. vintage always, one of my fav pants are vintage armani. ssense sale might be worth a gander here too. and our legacy third cuts are always a safe bet i think tops - hanes wife beaters, gildan heavy cotton blank tees (youth for baby tee, -1 from true size for mechanic undershirt style), or vintage. our legacy also makes amazing shirting, i wear exactly one shirt and it's from them midlayers - vintage russell, vintage fruit of the loom for sweatshirts. everybody.world for hoodies. supreme is my fav for jumpers, i just got one i like from every other thursday though, and i have one from wales bonner i like too outerwear - uniqlo u/lemaire, vintage bomber jackets, vintage blousons, vintage members only, supreme accessories - all the best hats, scarves, bandanas, whatever are vintage. sunglasses, i like sun buddies and oakley. belts, maximum henry and our legacy

florinegrassenhopper riotgrrrl brendanooooo slowdazzle buck_mcgraw and indianjones — we did it. Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
