This is not going to be about where you should buy/how you should buy clothes, or what you should buy. There’s just something special about having some items that have lasted you forever, and that you still have managed to wear regularly through personal style evolutions, wear and tear, and couldn’t dream of ever getting rid of. It’s part of your uniform and yours alone even if there are millions just like it elsewhere in stores, in closets or thrift/resale stores. They don’t even need to be expensive or luxury items. Personal favs for me include a plain light blue oxford button down from J Crew 10+ years ago, a Barbour motorcycle jacket of a similar age I bought after one of my first post college jobs and moving to a new city, and then also an Ohio State football (alma mater!) t shirt I got as a kid before even attending the school, which still somehow fits me believe it or not! Would love to give items like these to my future kids!

- take stock of your wardrobe. what do you have? why do you wear the things you like/wear? what do you wish you had? keep all these in mind, write them down if you must - take measurements of your favourite clothes and keep them on hand - if you know what you want, go find it. stores in your city or vintage stores/thrift stores are always good places to go. keep the measurements on hand and shop with a tape measure to know what will and won't roughly fit before wasting time trying it on - if you don't know what you want, go outside and look at how people wear things, or go on instagram or something. comes together with time - don't rush it too hard unless you need stuff like now as far as personal recs go without knowing anything about how you dress, these are some of the things i like lately bottoms - supreme does great shorts, dickies too. fadepants is the only pants brand i can endorse, but acne studios is probably good if you're rich. vintage always, one of my fav pants are vintage armani. ssense sale might be worth a gander here too. and our legacy third cuts are always a safe bet i think tops - hanes wife beaters, gildan heavy cotton blank tees (youth for baby tee, -1 from true size for mechanic undershirt style), or vintage. our legacy also makes amazing shirting, i wear exactly one shirt and it's from them midlayers - vintage russell, vintage fruit of the loom for sweatshirts. everybody.world for hoodies. supreme is my fav for jumpers, i just got one i like from every other thursday though, and i have one from wales bonner i like too outerwear - uniqlo u/lemaire, vintage bomber jackets, vintage blousons, vintage members only, supreme accessories - all the best hats, scarves, bandanas, whatever are vintage. sunglasses, i like sun buddies and oakley. belts, maximum henry and our legacy

Shoes: I recommended the Paraboot Michaels this week and those do live on my feet pretty often. In terms of reliability, it’s that pair of shoes. In terms of ‘cool’ I did lowball someone for vintage engineer boots a month ago and I’m so ecstatic about them. Pants: I have a pair of black jeans that have been worn in to perfection. They’re on their last few wears so I’m rationing them out. Shirts: T-shirt wise I own a dozen of the same vintage Gildan shirt and they’re my most worn item of clothing. For formal shirts, GAP put out a perfect Oxford a few years ago so I bought five identical shirts. One is crisp but the other four are nicely worn. Outerwear: I bought my dream coat last year so that’s the fav. I will die in that coat. (It’s in the picture below) Accesories: I have this silk Drakes scarf that is so beautiful. I get compliments on it all the time and although not the warmest, it’s by far the most intricate accessory I own.

😃
I love clothes that look like they have been well loved,, like a bag that has some rips and tears but still does its job because it was well made and I was passed down from someone’s mom

I don’t believe in ranking things- restaurants, albums, books, movies, athletes anything, top x lists whatever. I think it’s a waste of time honestly. Even with a completely objective criterion what’s the point. Would rather listen to and read people just talk about their favorite things and why they are special and meaningful to them- everyone has their own, interesting reasons. And this is a great place to do that!
