i’m not sure if the brutalist was actually as good as it felt- but i’m a sucker for an experience, and seeing a movie in 70mm at the music box with my very own mr.movies (josh), was a soul salve I didn’t know I needed.
and WOWEE KAWZOWEEE what a freaking credit sequence?? the SYNTHS? the BOLD TYPOGRAPHY? i’ve been playing la bionda’s “one for you, one for me” every day since.

saw it on sunday and im still thinking about it multiple times a day; a dissociative psychedelic suburban nightmare that is also incredibly focused in its delivery of a very important message. made me so incredibly emotional. really unique cinematography as well and i love how the soundtrack is like an alternate-universe 90s teen movie soundtrack made by contemporary artists.

one day a therapist told me that when you « work on yourself », it´s like progressing with onions layers. it’s so simple but it sticked with me and helped a lot when I didn’t feel a lot of progress and got frustrated somehow. it reminds you also that you never know everything about yourself or the human nature and that’s ok, it’s a process and it needs time to reach deeper and deeper layers
