My favorite thing in getting to know new people is finding out the things they enjoy that seem a bit out of character. I think it’s comforting and a bit sexy when not everything that they like has to be “cool” for them to really enjoy it. Being self-assured and knowing your worth is hot.
After all, life is too short to try and shape yourself around a mould that doesn’t truly resonate with you. Just enjoy the things that bring you joy without caring if they are basic or lame to others. you can enjoy the band that everyone hates, enjoy the movies that people think are overrated, and wear the shirt that went out of style 5 years ago.
true authenticity is a rare trait, always has been. It’s like striking gold when you find that inner peace to just be yourself, regardless of how cringy others find it. Find the peace to like what you like without shame.

it’s okay to be an idiot! but even more so it’s okay to be an idiot with a hotel lobby taste. why hate? why whine? being basic is natural. doesn’t have to be bad, doesn’t have to be good. it’s not offensive, crude, beautiful, thought provoking, interesting, new, or annoying. it's there. it's technically, proficiently, there. if it provokes a human response, it provokes artistic merit. it can even be charming! embrace inner blandness, reject pretentiousness.

Maybe it’s just my frontal lobe developing but I’ve been really simplifying the aesthetics of my life lately… no more dyed hair or heavy makeup… pared back outfits, plain nails and switching auto-caps back on…. Investing in the quality and durability of things/people in my life rather than the folly of aesthetic currency.
Theres something awesome about feeling like I’m enough as a person on the inside without trying so hard to reflect it on the outside. I don’t have to be the most interesting person in a room anymore! I can just be :)

I always find myself back here when I'm at home. There's just something re-orienting about the way it's a lil slice of your town that has its own self-contained vibe where all these different types of people come and do their thing quietly. Awesome
