The Deck great podcast that brings attention to cold cases that need publicity and are close to being solved It’s in relation to the cold case playing card decks (a deck w cards featuring a photograph and factual info about the unsolved case) these decks are passed out to hundreds of thousands of inmates and bc of them there are multiple cold cases that have now been solved it’s legitimately investigative reporting and brings awareness to a good cause they also donate majority of proceeds to a foundation that helps provide resourses to help solve these homicides It’s definitely gory at times, and sad, but it’s interesting if you’re into that sort of thing Cults Literally just discusses different cults throughout the world and history and why ppl join them/ how cult leaders come to be Some episodes are gruesome and some are crazy interesting in the sense of how much some cults have impacted culture as it is today it’s really insightful

deep dives on schemes, scams, or corporate / political scandals are very interesting and generally not insensitive about violence in the way the “true crime” genre can be, i don’t really like the “true crime” genre bc of that so here are some outside that main realm, either rec’d to me (irl) or that i have listened to that are really interesting: - the dropout: follows the rise and fall of everyone’s favorite girlboss and founder of theranos, elizabeth holmes and how she got a bunch of funding to start a healthcare company based on fake science! and also how she got found out. (if you enjoy it, there’s also bad blood: the final chapter) - hooked: tells the story of a famous bank robber and also the US opioid epidemic (together) - queen of the con: really wild, this woman literally conned a bunch of professional athletes out of their money just by lying all the time - you’re wrong about: they have episodes on all topics (like urban legends, movies, politics etc) but some are on famous ”crime” stories and debunking common myths, like flight 571, tonya harding, etc. imo it is not sensationalized the way some of the “murder podcasts” are but possibly bc it’s not a true crime podcast - mother country radicals: set mostly in the 1970s, it talks about this guy’s experience growing up with the Weather Underground, and their many militant radical actions (like, they literally bomb the government, rob banks to fund their organizing, prison breaks etc) - the dream (season one): basically talks about a ton of MLMs with crazy examples and some of the more well-known ones!

It may not be for everyone but I am obsessed and cannot get enough!! It’s mainly a true crime pod if you aren’t a patron but it’s soooo brilliant and done so well with hard work. Highly, highly recommend

On an app that's built on recommendations, we're doing the things. I felt inspired to share, as my namesake is the focus of the most recent episode! Tooth & Claw is definitely one of my go to podcasts-- after all, who doesn't love animal facts and macabre stories? (though I suppose, if you don't love those things, this wouldn't be the podcast for you~) The hosts handle the subject matter with expertise, humor and respect. It feels like hanging out with a group of friends who love nature and morbid curiosities. While perhaps not for the faint of heart, still, never too brutal; simply raw retellings, survival tips and educational to boot! Highly recommended for nature enthusiasts and thriller/true crime fans alike.

To start—> I don’t want this to come off as trauma dumpy, I am v happy with the person Ive grown into. Who I wouldn’t be if I didn’t have these experiences:) I’ve moved around so so so much especially as a kid. I used to feel v guilty bc there were a lot of friends I left behind bc of circumstances beyond my control. This pattern became a trend that continued throughout my life. Went to 4 high schools; was going thru a lot, and was referred to as a ghost. Having someone you didn’t even realize knew who u were say “omg! It’s been a year! We thought you’d died, wow, how are you? Yk a lot of people tried to reach out…etc” completely changed my perspective on the world. I didn’t even realize the possibility I was really noticed outside of my immediate friend group. Another case happened this year at university. I was chatting w someone from a class, their friends walk up to say hi, and one says “your name is Sophia right?” I said yes and assumed I’d just met her while drunk at a show. So I apologized, and asked her name/ where she was from and all that jazz. It got more awkward when she said we went to the same school growing up, same class and everything. I didn’t recognize her at all, but obviously she knew me, it was so bizarre. Continued to see her around campus nearly every day for the rest of the year Lolz. It didnt all actualize for me until recently, and still makes my head spin. I can’t imagine how many people I unintentionally became a ghost to :// being perceived is crazyyyy

In this regard, to what I like to call a funk. I feel très dookie. Lots of change in my life, and in times of instability I tend to fall off the horse- in a major way. Like many ppl. This past go round I have been excessively hard on myself over my general lacking in… well almost everything. Ive come to the conclusion that there are times you have to give yourself more grace than you’d like to. Maybe the pity party can last a couple more days than usual. I won’t go into details, bc as those of you reading who have dealt with mental health struggles, it can be sort of gross. Sure. There’s a ton I could be doing to put an end to my funk. Make more of an effort to dig myself out of the hole. But, at the end of the day I know I will come out of the funk in my own time. Faking myself out, and convincing myself I’m feeling better serves no one. Making yourself feel worse over feeling bad in the first place is just wildly counterproductive. Just keep moving forward in time. There’s a lot of it <3
