I quit my job at the beginning of this year. Infinitely lighter, happier. I still have some residual health things, but they are improving. Especially having savings, it's much easier, which I was lucky enough to have in my scenario too. The hardest thing for me has just been the feeling of idleness with a paycheck not coming in regularly, but I just remind myself how much better the rest of my life is... and I'm ok. :)

Iā€™ve quit at least 4 horrible jobs/contracts without something immediately lined up (that I can think of off the top of my head). And wow every time that was the best decision for me each and every time and I never looked back. Granted Iā€™ve otherwise had long tenure at jobs and was lucky enough to either find another opportunity right away (in one case quit before hearing back about an interview the previous day, which I did end up getting) or I was financially prepared to be unemployed. As others have said, definitely consider that youā€™re trading daily misery + salary, health care, stability, stuff to do with your day for no misery + logistical challenges. But if you are prepared to deal with job searching or just supporting yourself for a bit from your savings while you get on your feet, pls pls pls leave a job that is making you miserable and has no chance of getting any better (burnout is often defined as being in a situation where you have some combination of no upward mobility, continued frustration from the same sources, and endless work all without signs that itā€™ll get better, so look out for the signs). Man this rec is giving me the ole itch again (current job is pretty bad in a lot of ways, but not quite ā€œleave immediatelyā€ status and I do need a salary + healthcare after a long unemployment period last year šŸ˜æ).

I was not doing great mentally and it took me 5 2 week notices printed, 2 being turned in. And now I finally quit without even giving my two weeks. Though it seems a bit unprofessional for me to do, I genuinely just had enough of this place. I love all my coworkers, they were all nice to me but if this job is hindering me from my success, I fear it is not worth it. My boss is still hoping for my return and said I can take a mental break, but I canā€™t take another shift with nothing but stress. My favorite coworker also quit so I left on his last day of working since we also kinda told each other weā€™ll quit together. Haha life is so awesome.

This is specifically for NYC people. In Ridgewood Queens there is a hole in the wall high quality chocolate shop. Itā€™s run by an eccentric and amazing man named Constantine and his wife. He will talk your ear off for a half an hour about ā€œthe benefitsā€ of chocolate and how itā€™s a panacea for pretty much everything. How big chocolate gives away most of the cocoa butter to the cosmetic industry. Heā€™ll also talk to you about how he asks ChatGPT about chocolate and itā€™s wrong a lot of the time. Youā€™ll then buy a bar even though itā€™s small and $10. But you will go home and have a little piece after dinner and never taste chocolate the same way againā€¦

Ceramic pans are unfortunately not very long lasting, once the coating is damaged you canā€™t really fix it. Most of these pans also lose their nonstick qualities after a while. I suggest investing in a carbon steel or cast iron pan, which can be re-seasoned if damaged. Or stainless steel which is pretty indestructible as far as I can tell. These are lifelong pans!

Shelling causes you to be mindful. You can't really go on your phone or computer while shelling. It's a nice, deliberate activity that I've been enjoying lately.
