New Laura marling album is masterful as always. I sobbed a couple times on my first listen. It is so lovely and refreshing and powerful to see a woman write so lovingly about motherhood. I want you to know that I gave it up willingly Nothing real was lost in the bringing of you to me I want you to have a piece of my maternal flame Part of me, eternity, a tolerance for pain

idk something in me just changed when I listened to it all the way through she sings about anger, gender, physical and emotional pain, love and care, plumbing the depths of sadness and sweetness. the production is so layered and gorgeous (it’s also famously supposed to be the post-rpattz breakup album and I think having that narrative of how scrutinized and criticized she was during and after that relationship deepens my understanding of it, but doesn’t limit it)
