I like to go for a long walk + look at what flowers are in season. Also anything that keeps my hands busy is good—knitting, cooking, folding laundry. Tidying my space, opening a window, lighting an incense make me feel calm, refreshed + as though I have agency to exercise when the sadness-inducing thing is beyond my control. TV and phone time are typically bad when I am sad; books and music are hit or miss

whenever i start to Feel Real Bad i delete all the social media apps on my phone and i force myself to go outside into nature more, see other people, and read easy/shorter books (that aren’t sad). i journal to get any bad feelings out and to help think through why i’m in a funk. i clean my sheets and try to not be in my bed from 10am-9pm. i paint my nails. i dance in my room. i try to switch up my routine, and also put more effort into my outfits and fun makeup (personally it makes me feel more functional). i don’t have a therapist right now (working on it!) but talking to one usually helps me. i go to people i trust for advice, bc sometimes the funk comes from feeling overwhelmed. i also try to listen to lots of fun music like house music and indie pop. i’m not great at doing all of these things each time but a combination of them usually does the trick for me !

- eat food that u like (bonus points if u cook a recipe, I find it very therapeutic) - dont procrastinate on cleaning - do it at the start of ur day and end of ur day (also therapeutic) - move ur body!! dance, walk, run, stretch!!!!!!!! it’ll help regulate ur parasympathetic nervous system - cold showers stimulate neural pathway development :) - be careful with what songs u listen to, make sure the lyrics aren’t..erm condescending bc I believe words u tell urself/listen to are very powerful. - pursue long-form media & hobbies to refocus ur attention span perhaps into a book, a feel-good movie/tv show OR paint, journal, sew clothes, make a bracelet. - explore ur city! pottery classes, farmers markets, botanical gardens, thrift stores, new park, new food spots - always indulge in ur appearance even if u aren’t going anywhere. Wear clean clothes, brush ur hair, be hygienic, indulge in skincare. :)

figuring out the small things i can do that i know will make me feel at least 5% better has been so helpful to build momentum throughout my day. some of mine: groggy -> coffee, go outside and walk around, or a mini nap lethargic/irritable -> taking a shower and deep breaths, opening a window sad -> get sunlight, stand outside for ten minutes, hug my cat anxious/unable to focus -> writing a brain dump of everything that’s on mind or cbt journaling unable to sleep -> reading a book bored -> create/output something (input(watching/listening to/reading something, scrolling on my phone) vs output(making something, writing my thoughts on something i watched, trying something new)) bloated -> ginger tea, activating pressure points, yoga uninspired -> revisiting something formative, figuring out the unexplored territories in my taste and going into them, looking through my collection of art books
