my favorite gifts to give (and receive) are trinkets! even if you think they’re stupid or useless, there is so much love and meaning by looking at something in passing and being filled by the memory or thought of someone! i love perusing thrift store, antique store, etc… and picking out little objects that give me the same energy or memory of a parti person in my life!! i’ve received such an assortment of trinkets to build my collection with and it brings a smile every time i give them a glance. a museum of loved ones. (also it can be uber cheap)!!

First of all Happy Chinese New Year !! 🧧❤️‍🔥 Last year on my birthday, I got a charm from a shop in Binondo, the heart of Manila’s Chinatown. Achi the shopkeeper told me that after getting the charm, I should pray at the Cross of Lognos altar and light three incense sticks to have my wishes answered and not gonna lie, that charm became my little anchor through ups and down. It’s actually the only superstition i believe cos it’s been with me through ups and down Shoutout to the chinito guy from my hometown ~~ we were born to be lovers but destined to stay strangers. 🤣 We never crossed paths again, but thanks to him, I discovered this tradition. Now, I’m planning to get a new one. I’m not sure if this is a tradition to other local chinatowns but if ever find yourself in Binondo, Manila or maybe in your local chinatown, grab those charms too!!

I’m almost always wearing jewelry that’s meaningful, whether it was a gift from someone or something i bought that reminds me of someone. I also think you can add meaning to things by making them important, like my favorite ring, which I bought just because I love it but now feels like a part of my self because I wear it so much. In my car, I have a few charms on my mirror: -evil eye from Turkey, where my mom lived for a few years when she was a kid -silver kokopelli charm that has my grandmothers initials and says “her car” on it 🥹 -silver colored sea creature bouquet on a keychain that my little brother gave me when he was small -beaded rainbow octopus from a trip to California to visit family Also a big fan of collecting good rocks on trips and sometimes I’ll carry one of them in my pocket.

Handmade beads!! Old beads! Beads from all over the world!!! I source outdated necklaces from antique stores and deconstruct them for my collection. then I make necklaces for my friends birthdays 🤝 This one is made of tigers eye beads sourced from Hawaii, New York, and Pennsylvania!!!! it’s so fun to add sentiment to literally anything.
