- the dian fossey gorilla fund was founded by iconic primatologist, dian fossey, who extensively studied the behaviors, interactions, and social structures of mountain gorillas in rwanda ||:8) not only did she contribute new knowledge about gorillas but she also played a very big role to the survival of mountain gorillas via "active conservation" methods such as census counting the gorillas, destroying traps, and warding off poachers (queen literally threatened the poachers w/ witchcraft 🧙🏽♀️); at present, the organization strives to continue fossey's work of protecting gorillas and their forests
- the borneo orangutan survival foundation takes care of orphaned orangutans and works towards rehabilitating them so they may be equipped w/ the survival skills they need before being released back into the wild !! if you know the show orangutan jungle school, this is their organization :3

I work in admin at the zoo and have learned an insane amount about the conservation work they’re doing around the world with critically endangered animals (critical as in there are literally two in existence critical). I’m here three days a week and you know I’m hanging with ChiChi the gibbon, penny and harry the African rhinos, and tunko the gorilla who waves at people

Decided to rewatch the apes trilogy pretty recently and developed a particular fondness for the orangutan character, I think its name is Maurice. I haven’t been able to stop watching videos of orangutans doing diy projects, driving cars, making trades for food, witnessing magic tricks and having generally good interactions with humans.
I would love to befriend an orangutan for a day and go out on a jungle cruise with the fella, have an adventure, maybe give it a name if it doesn’t have one, probably something Shakespearean like Titus.
I’ve been told that this is an extremely autistic thought for me to have and I’m hard-pressed to disagree.

idk why i just remembered this movie out of the blue while studying and can't believe how criminally underrated it is !! cute n sweet romcom where the 2 main characters actually act like real people with pure love for each other :') also i miss river phoenix
