my loving parents half invited me to go with them to Glacier National Park and i accepted. it was awesome seeing the night sky, wildlife, and natural scenery but the best part was seeing my parents go somewhere they’ve always wanted to. Glacier was filled with people nearing death - there was a sea of white hair on all the easy trails and in the lodge lobbies. i did have to sneak into many hotels and campsites and sleep on the ground but that only added to the experience of witnessing a bunch of old people live their lives.

A cool thing as an adult is that I get to make holidays how I want them, creating new rituals, and deciding which ones from my childhood to keep. Really healing when certain holidays have had harmful memories.
A cool thing as a parent is I get to experience the magic of holidays through my kids. I’m going trick or treating this year for the first time in 20 years!
