highly recommend because you end up spending a questionable amount of time searching for what I refer to as the “good rocks” (be warned though, if you’re anything like me, your knees will take a real hit from all the scavenging lol)

mountains are harsh and uncompromising. every time you climb a peak, even a small one, you’ve literally surmounted something in yourself. the harder it is, the fewer people you’ll encounter, and the more authentic your interactions with them will be. beaches on the other hand are too easy. there’s only so much sun and soothing tide noise i can take before i start to get antsy. like where’s the suffering? and why is everyone in such a good mood, what’s their problem? and why is there still sand in my shoes 3 months later? so yeah mountains over beaches any day. <3

There’s something special about an ill-conceived beach that transcends its crappiness. In this case we’re looking at Crane Cove in SF. I don’t know what kind of planner looks at an open space in the middle of a World War-era industrial complex and says “this is a perfect spot for a beach, so relaxing and scenic” but honestly it kind of rules. On a nice summer day it’s just as hoppin as anywhere else, just be careful in the water!!!
