Gorse on a hill by school fair

Debut album by a severely underrated band from New Zealand. Hard to give it a specific genre, but expect witty poetics, and an art rock sensibility. They recorded the whole thing on a 4-track cassette and I think it is an example of rock minimalism par excellence. My favorite track “Don‘t Let Me See You Swing and Miss“ is a tender dialogue between the lead singer and a guest vocalist set over somber, melodic guitars—it gets me feeling lots of things. Gorky’s zygotic mynci

Just recently found this Welsh psych/folk band. They seem like they should be far more famous than they are. As far as I can tell, every song they have is beautiful. It’s like Devendra Banhart meets the Kinks, late 60s British psych, and John Cale (who is apparently a big fan). But it’s also pretty late 90s sounding, makes me feel like a kid. Here’s Faraway Eyes^ (not a Stones cover)
