This is an "I have money" activity to do when you don't actually have money. It did cost me $45, but that's okay. I just moved into a new apartment and I bought an awesome new vase and I thought, you know what I've never done! Gone to a florist! Conveniently, my new place is a few blocks away from one, so I went in and said "hi, here is my vase, make me something beautiful". Boy did they deliver! It is also just a really nice place to hangout in. You have to wait while they make it, obviously... but its like the most relaxing and best smelling waiting room you have ever been in. Here is my pretty bouquet! Go to Hillary Horvath Flowers in NE Portland if ur in my city <3

In my older years (late 20s) I’ve come to appreciate the simplicity and vibrancy of flowers in the home. I used to not like flowers because of their short life span and thought it was a waste of money, but supporting local florists and making my home more aesthetically pleasing has been a form of self care and joy. Now I grab a random assortment have my friends and I make bouquets as an activity !

It’s always cheaper and always better!!!! arranged one I am quite proud of on the N train en route to my dear old friend Jonah’s apartment in Astoria where his incredible roommate Evan would cook us a four course meal. This was the only good picture I got of the flowers however because moments after a man was stabbed twice and the entire train car poured into the next and someone pulled the fucking emergency brake leaving us trapped between 34th and 42nd with a man who at the time was said to have a gun! (He did not ❤️) Bonded w a fellow New Yorker over the moment bc we knew that w a knife, not a gun, everybody else would be completely fine. (They were) Gained a lovely little bump on my head from being shoved out of the way and into the metal pole but was miraculously only 15 minutes late to the dinner and the bouquet was very well received. I learned all I know abt this from my first love and his father who taught me the ins and outs of simple but floral arrangements. I’ll probably never speak to either of them again but I hope they’re both well. cannot recommend doing this enough. Takes very little time honestly but makes a huge difference and is very thoughtful. Cut your stems diagonally and ideally under running water. Don’t buy red roses. Choose color combos wisely, seasonally, and personally. get an accent flower, a secondary flower, and a filler (baby’s breath or something leafy is usually my go-to). Use the rubber bands already on the respective bunches of flowers to hold your creation in place. Listen when someone you fancy tells you their favorite color or their favorite flower. Love with all of your heart!!!!! Happy new year everyone
