apathy is. if you genuinely cannot find interest in ANYTHING anymore, that’s a sign of something deeper/bigger gone awry. casual, gentle boredom (though it may not feel gentle) is actually incredibly needed + useful! don’t let it inspire you to numbness.

A lot of things appear dull and boring at first, but if you force yourself to be interested you will find what is interesting about them. That's the task: find what's interesting.

Stay tapped out but be really enthusiastic about pursuing shared experiences with your friends even when they’re not really your thing. Your pals get to experience the joy of introducing you to new shit, you get to try new stuff without the work of cultivating 100 esoteric interests, and when it’s your turn to get into something niche (I guarantee there’s at least 1 thing you’re kind of a freak about) there will be people around to reciprocate It’s fun as long as no one’s an asshole about it :)

Remember when you were younger and didn’t know how to worry about your image? Remember when you were weird and it made you more interesting? Remember when you loved the things you loved because they made you curious, and not because you felt any obligation to engage beyond your own joy? Passion is a commodity these days, if you have it in you please tend it!! Ty to the person who posted about the culture of apathy, it’s too true and we must fight it.

at least casually. don’t delete the accounts but don’t have the apps on your phone either. rediscover your love of reading thru the magic of recognizing titles strangers are holding on the subway. become a subway reader. don’t use sound as an escape from your thoughts/feelings/surroundings. grocery shopping without headphones is actually kind of beautiful! pick up a new hobby or two or three. one of them should be something you’re not good at, and at least one should be no- or low-cost. never. stop. learning. the library, the parks and rec department, and nearby museums offer great materials already but also usually have free lectures or courses. go outside more. like, a lot more. (took this much less literally, so apologies if it’s not what you’re looking for lol — as a narcoleptic I have no tips on how to Not Sleep since Sleep is basically my job)
