sandman / guzman / hoffman
not sure how many times i've seen it, but my viewing last night was so therapeutic. sandler’s emotional range coupled with the super syncopated and relentless jon brion score and the long winded tracking shots totally lure you into his psyche and you can really feel his feelings and laugh at the pain. it perfectly captures a slice of life, when the odds feel stacked against you and everything is in overdrive. it’s got all the blueprints a superhero movie would have yet it’s set in a mundane liminal world. it’s like what if the hulk had to put up with a never ending stream of hurdles and bullshit, but instead of green skin and a big bod it’s adam sandler in a blue suit and they both break a lot of stuff
