it feels so empowering to walk around wearing ethnic clothes in a ‘modern’ city where the standard fashion is deeply influenced by the west. i will always love u, sarees <3 also, this is my mum’s saree, and many sarees are heirlooms passed down in the family. it’s quite literally, wearing your culture, carrying the stories of your ancestors with you! maybe this is why i like thrifted clothes lol

nothing informs my style more than the people around me. whenever i'm in a new city i like going to well-curated stores (preferably with indie designers from said city/country/region) and cute thrift stores. i've found that's a good way of keeping one's silhouette interesting and ever-changing. also, that ensures that sometimes you'll have on something 'weird' from another place, and that'll pique interest in people you're with... keeping on a cycle of fashion inspiration :p

I have thought about this at length, I fear. I want to look and feel at ease in my clothes and I shop for clothing very intentionally. For me the rules of outfits are: - No single-designer looks - Steam/press rarely - No logos (sneakers are the exception) - Always wear at least 1 garment with visible wear or damage - Get dressed intentionally every day - It does not matter how conventionally flattering the look is. I care only about how it makes me feel in my body - Never clean Ur (my) shoes except to keep leather in condition I shop almost exclusively second hand and in person—I only buy if I would be heartbroken to come back for a garment to find it had passed me by forever. Most pieces I see are effectively one-offs because I treat them this way. I am attracted to Japanese workwear silhouettes, modular garments, and drama. “My” colour is the shade precisely between yellow and orange. All my jewelry is gifted. I aim to keep garments until the end of their lives.

I love clothes that look like they have been well loved,, like a bag that has some rips and tears but still does its job because it was well made and I was passed down from someone’s mom
