It’s a cozy murder mystery! There are five books in the series. I read some of them last fall when I was pregnant and didn’t want to be reading anything too scary. Looks like more have been released that I’ll need to read!

looking for a thriller? Read sharp object by Gillian Flynn- love love this book southern gothic story. trying to find out who killed a little girl and finding out the killer is actually closer than you think! Looking for a relatable read? Read Everyone in this room will someday be dead by Emily Austin - just finished this book about a woman who finds herself fixated on dying and death of those around her and herself. She also find herself an Atheist in a Catholic church being offered a job which she accepts. This book might not be relatable with you but it was with me. I know when I was younger I would think about death all the time and just being terrified by the unknown and not knowing when something could happen to someone you love. Looking for a great series and get better by each and every book? Read the shadow and bone series with six of crows by Leigh Bardugo. I won’t lie I read this series WAY out of order. I read six of crows then crooked kingdom following up with king of scars and rule of wolves. then reading the first trilogy. But I just loved the duopoly of king of scars and rule of wolves it was so magical falling back in with characters I knew from the past books.

Gerald’s Game by Stephen King — his scariest book (for me) and the ending still haunts me. 10/10, big content warnings. It by him is also really great, tis 1000 pages though. The Island by Adrian McKinty is a fabulous murder thriller that actually had my heart racing. Blood Sugar by Sascha Rothchild is not Scary per se, but really well written. The narrator is a murderer accused of a murder she didn’t commit! Kill for Love by Laura Picklesimer is not scary, but plenty of gore.

This has become the norm and every day I grow more disturbed. I understand if somebody is behaving in a harmful way, that is good to document and put out there. But as a whole, it seems, we have become so comfortable with recording people just living their lives. I saw a video of a guy working and the caption of the video was that he was so hot, we needed to find him!!! Why are you providing the Internet with his face and location instead of just going up to talk to him? I saw another of two people on the subway, seemingly a couple, having a very emotional moment. How would you feel if you open up an app and saw a video like that of yourself? I don’t like this level of sibling society surveillance. Why are you videoing an elderly person with sad music dubbed over it to gain likes? It is WEIRD. Don’t even get me started on videos of children. It is WEIRD to use a stranger without their consent to get some kind of fake validation. Get a life. I don’t mean to come on here and share something so negative, I just don’t have anywhere else to put it and it’s gnawing at me.
