Doing it yourself is wicked easy. But sometimes if the stars align (eg I pass a car place before a gas station), I’ll just ask an auto shop if they can add air for me. They almost always say yes with no wait.

If your only option is to use those coin-op air pumps at the gas station, do yourself the favor of taking off all four caps before starting the pump. It's no fun fumbling with those things when you're racing against the clock to fill all your tires in under a couple minutes. There should be a sticker inside the driver-side door that lists the ideal PSI levels of the front/back tires too. The best option is meagre_graeme's suggestion though - having an inflator in the car is great for lots of things!

Do as I say, not as I do. A metal wire thing pierced my tire as I got to work, I am too scared to change it myself in case I butcher it and the tire flies off on my commute home, so I had to call someone out to help I know how to change tires, I just have no confidence to do so ;-; moral of the story: Learn how to change a tire and be confident in doing so, you will save yourself $200 😭
