as someone with a 26 year old jeep cherokee, there have been lots of things that i've had go wrong with my car. when i lived back home, i got to just rely on my dad to fix it for me and never paid much attention. i knew the basics (changing tires, changing my oil, refilling various fluids) but when i looked under the hood nothing meant anything to me. now i live a 20 hour drive from home and am far too broke to be able to go to the mechanic all the time so, still very much with my dad's guidance over facetime and him sending me youtube videos, i've learned to fix a lot of stuff on my own. i've changed my oil at my apartment in the middle of the city, changed my belt, replaced sensors, fixed my battery, etc. i still have no idea what i'm doing most of the time and don't know the names of most of the parts, but i always feel so satisfied after successfully fixing something. my dear jeep frederick may be old and beat up and likes to break down on me frequently, but we're in this together š«¶š»
