this album isn’t completely unknown, but i definitely never hear enough people talk about it. every single time i’ve told someone to listen to this album, they’ve come back with nothing short of love for it. i took a friend to see flyte, and he only knew one of their songs - he left saying, “THAT’S how i want to be as a musician. that stage presence, songwriting, etc.” - a big fan was born that night lol. i would literally show this band and this album to every individual person in the world if it meant it would get the appreciation it deserved.

please take a moment to listen to 5LOKO, one of the greatest diy indie projects out there right now. i met t and raf through the beautiful magic of timing and the internet at the start of covid and had the honor of not only making two wonderful friends, but also getting to collaborate in the creation of some art to compliment their own work: making single cover art for them, working on one of my first two person portrait/lifestyle shoots with them, shooting & making posters for their shows (and also now cooking up an even bigger project??? stay tuned hehe). honestly, ever since we all met up together for the first time, ive just been on a mission to get them on the map…simply put: they are just too goated to fail. if you have any time today, please just listen to at least one song of theirs or their latest album New Beatles and let me know what songs resonate with u 🧚

speaking of solo concerts, i went to The Beths last night for the second time this year and wow, they are truly one of my favorite bands ever. Australian indie rock band with an incredible show both times. tight tight TIGHT band. danced my shit off, incredible guitar lines, the whole band sings backup vocals while they play, it’s unreal. feels like driving 95 down a highway or running as fast as you can until you fall straight into a body of water. feels like the most charming and poignant ways to sing about a breakup. feels like I LOVE LIVE MUSIC!!! ran into a friend at the show who told me they found The Beths through a playlist i made and got hooked. made my night. maybe you will be next

this world is too cold and life is too short to not make sure that the people around you know you love them, that they matter to you. stop this mindset of needing to be nonchalant!!!! if someone leaves you after you tell them you love them, well, they weren’t mean to stick around anyways. tell your friends, your family, your lovers that they are what makes life worth living! that they are sunshine personified to your heart and soul!! the real ones will stay, and they’ll tell you the same. too many people don’t realize how loved they are. 2025 is the year of telling people you love them. flat out.

i’m definitely not the first person here to make a rec about this, but my tired brain is truly rejoicing. i have a very hard time completely leaving it since i communicate and share creative work through the app, but i think i’ve decided i will only be on it once a week or when i need/want to post. that’s all. as an already anxious person, seeing the same anxiety-inducing general information (as in something i could easily find on google or a news app) be reposted by 20+ people on their stories has become HELL, especially these last few weeks. not only that, but the constant push of personal opinions about such matters (even if i agree with them) just seems to warp your perception of people. maybe i’m just a wimp, but i don’t think humans were meant to see each other in such a way; we’re not so flashy and impulsive face to face. add the endless scrolling onto that, and it’s downright exhausting and kills productivity. there is so much more dimension and depth to humans and life than what is said or done or seen through this screen. can we please go back to flip phones?
