Stanley Kubrick’s contribution to horror is a masterpiece of a film. Jack Nicholson has one of his best performances of his career and Shelley Duvall perfectly matches him. This movie fills you with dread and with every rewatch, you discover something new about the film.

I know I'm 46 years late to this, but after a scarring experience with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World when I was 4, I found myself terrified of basically everything until like -- last year. Because of this, I'm only just now beginning to dive head-first into the horror genre and enjoy it. I've watched a bunch, but this takes the cake so far (honorable mentions to The Shining and another De Palma film Phantom of the Paradise).

older films rock, and i HIGH recommend Shadow of a Doubt, Alfred Hitchcock’s self proclaimed best work. A movie about the death of the american small town, familial abuse, divorce, and weird incestuous tensions. it’s one of the more tense films i’ve seen without really showing too much actual voilence. It’s all about power, control, and how people can be manipulated. Also I am a huge fan of Park Chan-Wook’s Stoker, and had no idea that was loosely based on this film. That movie rips too go watch it after they make a fantastic double feature.

I live in Chicago! Depending on where you're staying, there's a bunch of cool things to do as Chicago is a city of neighborhoods. Wicker Park and Logan Square are popular neighborhoods to check out and they're on the cheaper end. California Clipper, Rainbo Club, and Common Decency are bars that are worth checking out. I know that Common Decency has a happy hour 4-6pm 7 days a week. If you're into movies, check out the Music Box Theatre! It's a 95 year old arthouse movie theatre in the Southport Corridor/Lakeview neighborhood that shows independent and second run films. Speaking of Lakeview, Clark Street is pretty popular if you're going to check out Wrigley Field! There are bars up and down the block so you won't need to walk far to find a place to drink at for cheap. If you need any more ideas or recommendations, let me know!
