i was up late working on a history assignment as a sophomore in high school when i first heard this record. my aunt gave me her deceased husband’s original copy as a gift. i put it on the shitty crosley turntable on the floor and was totally sucked in. i think about this record nearly every day. “i could write a book and this book would be thick enough to stun an ox.”

Just finished this book. There were times I wanted to stop reading because it was so sad to see how much suffering, sadness, and disappointment went into making some of my favorite music ever. But there was also a lot of love and magic. The context it adds around Chris, Jody, Alex, Andy and all that orbited the band is unparalleled. It felt like sitting around and being told first-hand stories directly to you from those that lived it, for over 400+ pages, imperfections and all.

I bought this cd a while back. Being someone who casually listened to Talking Heads but never took the time to listen to David‘s solo work, this entire album was a surprise. The best way I can describe it is those pre-911 utopian scholastic books. Get what I mean? - Davyn

im reading this book wrote by David Byrne (talking heads). There is a chapter where Byrne talk about the time he used to work with Brian Eno for ; "my life in the bush of ghosts" which is a full experimental project composed with recorded voices from tv, politician speeches, African and middle eastern rythmes, they experimented with dictaphones etc. A controlled patchwork of sounds and voices. I think this piece is very interesting and it's also a great reminder that you don't necessary need a structure to follow for your own work. take it, change it and just experiment as far as you can. It's the same thing with collage (and every art forms) just print your images and try different combinaison until you find the right one !

I recently realized drinking 3-7 black coffees a day could be contributing to my anxiety. Its wild. Definitely a rough start. Now—a few weeks without coffee or caffeinated drinks—I feel much calmer. My sleep and bruxism are improving. My motivation suffered but is on the rebound. Will report further updates.

Was down yesterday; decided I had to break out. Rode my bike to Coney Island as the sun set. I had to suit up for the cold—in NYC theres no snow or ice yet so it was possible—thermals and puffer. I remembered on the ride that I’m so sick like the coolest. I hadn‘t rode my bike out to Coney since I was a teenager. The return night ride along the belt parkway I passed only three other people just striding by the Narrows. To my right—hundreds of car headlights pointed to the airport. It like forced me to give myself some credit.
